Karen Lewis joined the Foundation in 2010 to direct activities related to improving oral health for older adults. In her role as Senior Program Officer, she is responsible for developing partnerships and programs to increase the knowledge, confidence, and skills of professionals – such as dentists, caregivers, case managers – who touch the lives of older adults every day to improve health outcomes. Karen is passionate about making programs and communications accessible so that people understand how to adopt healthy behaviors and experience the highest quality of life throughout their lifespan.
Karen received her Bachelor’s degree in Health Education and Biology from CWU and her Certificate in Technical Writing and Editing from the University of Washington. She is also a Certified Health Education Specialist. When Karen is not working to increase access to dental care, she likes to spend time with her family traveling, hiking, cooking, and entertaining.
