Future-Ready Dentistry: The ‘Nuts and Bolts’ of AI Integration in Practice

June 11 @ 5:30 pm 7:00 pm

Course Description:

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly embedded in modern dental practice, influencing how clinicians diagnose disease, communicate with patients, document care, and manage clinical data. From imaging support and risk assessment to patient education materials and administrative workflows, AI tools are already being used. As noted in healthcare literature, “The greatest risk of artificial intelligence in medicine is not misuse, but uninformed use.” Seemingly, the formal training or guidance provided to the dental workforce for AI integration may not be adequate. For dental practitioners, this reality highlights the importance of understanding both the capabilities and limitations of AI to ensure safe, ethical, and effective patient care.

Course Objectives:

  1. Identify common applications of artificial intelligence in general and specialty dental practice.
  2. Explain the benefits and challenges associated with using AI in dentistry.
  3. Apply basic AI tools to improve patient communication, educational materials, and clinical data review while recognizing ethical and policy considerations.
