Speaker Bio:
Dr. Ivy F. Lin is an Assistant Professor and the Interim Director of the General Practice Residency at the University of Washington School of Dentistry (UWSOD). After earning her DMD with distinction from McGill University in 2017, she completed her own General Practice Residency at UWSOD. Dr. Lin later obtained a Master of Public Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where she focused on climate change mitigation and health policy.
Her work since then has centered on advancing sustainability in dentistry through education, research, and advocacy. She founded the Climate Action and Sustainability Team at UWSOD, currently serves as Chair of the American Dental Education Association’s Sustainability in Dentistry Special Interest Group and is a member of the Climate Taskforce with the Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility. In recognition of her contributions to environmental sustainability in dentistry, Dr. Lin has received the Stephanie Davis Waste Reduction Award from Health Care Without Harm and the UW Husky Sustainability Award. Her overarching goal is to foster greater awareness, engagement, and research within the dental community about the environmental impacts of dental practice and the critical importance of sustainability in oral healthcare.
