Course Overview
Learn behavior guidance and communication techniques for both your pediatric patient and their parents. This course will help you to use those tools to better treatment plan your patient, complete successful treatment in your office, and/or know when to refer to a specialist.
Course Objectives
- Identify appropriate treatment plans based on patients age, treatment needs, and behavior.
- List 5 different behavior management techniques that do not involve sedation.
- List the pros and cons of having parents in v. out of treatment area

Presenter Bio
Dr. Brianne Butler, or “Dr. Bri” as she prefers to be called, was born and raised in Washington State. After receiving a degree in Biology and Spanish at the University of San Diego, she completed both dental school and her pediatric residency at the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital, where she received extensive experience in working with children of all ages and children with special needs. She received her Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry, a Master’s of Science in Dentistry, and afterwards she went on to complete her board certification in pediatric dentistry and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
After completing residency, she and her husband decided to relocate to the beautiful Olympic Peninsula where she has been serving children for the past 11 years as a pediatric dentist and the Dental Director for the Jamestown Family Dental Clinic. When she is not in clinic, she volunteers her time working as affiliate faculty at the University of Washington School of Dentistry and attends events throughout the community to promote oral health in children. She is an active member of American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association, and Olympic Peninsula Dental Society.
She has served as president of the Washington State Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Western Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and is currently the AAPD Public Policy Advocate for Washington State. She is also the ABCD Champion for the Northern Olympic Peninsula. She is committed to bettering the oral health of our community by working with patients and parents both in the clinic and in the community at large. In her free time, Dr. Bri enjoys spending time with her husband, daughters, and their dog, Huck. Her hobbies include traveling, fishing, board games, and anything outdoors!
