Carol Nelson

Carol K. Nelson is an independent director and serves as Vice Chair of the Delta Dental of Washington Board of Directors and chairs the DEI committee of the board. She also serves as an independent director and technology committee Vice Chair for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (Iowa), one of 11 regional Banks that make up the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) System. Nelson also serves on the board of advisors for Brooks Running, a Berkshire Hathaway company. She achieved NACD Directorship Certification® in 2022. 

Previously, Nelson served as a Strategic Advisor and Director to startup FinTech Monzo Inc. and U.S. CEO from 2019 to 2022, establishing its U.S. headquarters and leading the company from beta to production. She was named among the Top 100 Women in FinTech by FinTech Magazine in 2021. Parent company Monzo Bank is the UK’s fastest growing digital bank with over 6 million customers

Prior to joining Monzo, Nelson was a top executive for KeyBank, a top-20 bank in the U.S. She was a member of KeyBank’s Executive Council and a director and trustee for the KeyBank Foundation. During her tenure, American Banker Magazine named her to their Most Powerful Women in Banking Top Team.

In addition to her corporate experience, Nelson is an active community leader. She serves on the Board of Advisors for the Fred Hutch Cancer Center, the Board of Directors for United Way of King County, and is Chair of the Washington State Major League Baseball Public Facilities Board (home to the Seattle Mariners). She a board member of NACD Northwest Chapter, a Women Corporate Directors member, and a mentor for OnBoarding Women. Nelson served her alma mater, Seattle University as a board member and Audit Committee Chair, receiving its distinguished alumni professional achievement award. She is a qualified audit committee “financial expert.”
