Madlen Caplow
Senior Program Officer, MouthMatters
Madlen joined the Foundation in 2009 to lead the Primary Medical Care Oral Health Initiative. This work promotes the inclusion of oral health education and screening during routine well-child visits with medical providers through MouthMatters. Madlen’s role includes recruiting primary care practices, designing clinical team trainings, and providing ongoing coaching and support throughout implementation. Prior to this, she worked with the University of Washington’s Child Health Institute as an Improvement Advisor for pediatric issues including asthma, ADHD, and weight concerns, as well as establishing a medical home.
Madlen served as a Project Manager at Group Health Cooperative (GHC) to create health assessment tools and health promotion programs to ensure that the organization provided patients with state-of-the-art preventive care. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Colorado College and a Master of Public Health in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of North Carolina. Madlen loves spending time with her busy family and takes advantage of all opportunities for physical activity.
